Survival Skills and Life Resilience

Hello everyone! This is Vincent from DSE Form 4. Today, I want to talk to you about an eternal topic - survival. From ancient human beings drilling wood to get fire and avoiding fierce beasts, to modern society to deal with sudden disasters and workplace challenges, survival is never passive, but the wisdom and courage to actively control fate.

First of all, in the natural environment, the core is to protect the "survival triangle" - shelter, water source, and kindling. Use natural terrain or simple materials to build shelters, choose flowing water to drink after treatment, master the basic way of taking fire, and calm judgement is the most precious wealth in desperate situations.

Secondly, in the event of a sudden crisis, calmness and accuracy are the key. In the event of a fire, cover the mouth and nose with a wet towel and escape in a low posture; in the event of an earthquake, avoid danger and evacuate after the incident; drowning rescue gives priority to tools for remote rescue. These skills need to be remembered in advance in order to turn danger into destruction at a critical moment.

What's more important is the survival wisdom of modern society: take root inward and maintain lifelong learning ability to cope with change; grow outward, learn emotional management, establish social support, and make the heart have the resilience to resist wind and rain.

Listeners, learning survival skills is not to cope with extremes, but to have more sense of security and initiative in ordinary life. May we all integrate the wisdom of survival into our daily life, fear nature, prevent risks, and have the courage to face challenges head-on, so that every ordinary day becomes the cornerstone of life.

Thank you, everyone!

Title: Say “No” to Procrastination

Hello, everyone! Today, we’re going to talk about procrastination.

In this presentation, we’ll explore four main topics. First, we’ll define what procrastination is. Then, we’ll discuss its negative impacts on our lives. After that, we’ll look at some of the reasons behind it. Finally, I’ll share some strategies to help you break free from procrastination and become more productive.

I. Definition of Procrastination

Procrastination is the act of delaying or postponing tasks, even when we know we should be doing them. It's a common behavior that affects many people, especially students.

II. Impact of Procrastination

Procrastination has a wide range of negative effects on our lives. One of the most common impacts is increased stress. This stress can affect not only our mental health but also our physical health, leading to headaches, fatigue, and even sleep problems.

Another major impact of procrastination is poor performance. When we rush to finish tasks at the last minute, we’re less likely to put in our best effort. This often results in lower quality work, whether it’s a school assignment, a project, or preparing for an exam. Procrastination can also damage our reputation, as others may see us as unreliable or uncommitted when we fail to meet expectations.

III. Reasons for Procrastination

One of the primary reasons for procrastination is the fear of failure. This fear can manifest as a lack of confidence in our abilities or a fear of making mistakes.

Another reason for procrastination is a lack of motivation. When a task doesn't align with our personal interests or values, it becomes easy to postpone it.

Poor time management is also a contributing factor to procrastination. When we fail to prioritize our tasks effectively or underestimate the time required to complete them, we end up feeling overwhelmed and postpone starting them.

IV. Strategies for Overcoming Procrastination

To overcome procrastination, several effective strategies can be employed, which related to the reasons I mentioned in the last part. Now, I will summarize and emphasize these tips.

Breaking tasks into manageable chunks is a practical strategy. This approach makes the task feel less daunting and increases the likelihood of getting started.

Creating a schedule and sticking to it is another valuable strategy. By allocating specific time slots for different tasks and setting deadlines, individuals can create a sense of accountability and structure. Following a schedule helps combat the temptation to put tasks off until the last minute, ensuring they are completed in a timely manner.

Eliminating distractions is crucial for maintaining focus and avoiding procrastination. By consciously minimizing these distractions and creating a conducive environment for work, individuals can stay focused and committed to their tasks.

Positive self-talk  and self-reward are powerful tools in combating procrastination. By consciously reframing negative thoughts and self-doubt, individuals can boost their confidence and motivation.

Conclusion with Ending

In conclusion, procrastination is a common issue that affects many of us, but it’s not impossible to overcome.

 Let’s say “NO” to procrastination!

Thank you for your attention, and I hope this talk has inspired you to take control of your time.
