Good morning everyone, this is Stella from Form 5. Today I’d like to talk about a truly remarkable person: Ruth Bader Ginsburg, a great justice of the United States Supreme Court. Her life, her work, and her influence still shape the world we live in today.
Ruth Bader Ginsburg was born on March 15, 1933, in Brooklyn, New York. She grew up in a middle-class family, and her mother, Celia, played a huge role in shaping her values. Celia encouraged her to work hard, to value education, and to be strong—qualities that guided her throughout her life.
Ginsburg studied government at Cornell University, where she developed a passion for the law. Later, she attended Harvard Law School before transferring to Columbia Law School, graduating at the top of her class.
She began her career as a law professor, teaching at Rutgers and Columbia Law School. During that time, she did groundbreaking research on gender discrimination and became deeply committed to fighting for women’s rights.
Her legal work at the American Civil Liberties Union gave her the chance to argue important cases that changed the law and improved women’s opportunities in education, work, and pay.
In 1993, President Bill Clinton nominated her to the Supreme Court, and she became the second woman ever to serve there. As a justice, she was known for her sharp legal mind and her powerful support for equal rights. Even when she disagreed with the majority, her dissenting opinions often inspired future changes in the law.
Her influence went far beyond the courtroom. She became an inspiration to women, girls, and young lawyers everywhere. She showed the world that one person’s dedication can make a real difference.
When she passed away in 2020, people across the country honored her memory. But her ideas about equality and justice continue to inspire activists and lawyers who are working for a fairer world.
To sum up, Ruth Bader Ginsburg’s life was full of hard work, courage, and achievements. She fought tirelessly for gender equality, and her story reminds us of the importance of standing up for what we believe in and never giving up on our dreams of a better world.

Introduction
Hello everyone, today I want to share with you a personal journey that was shaped bydedication, ambition and the want to succeed. As many of you know I am originally from the United Kingdom. Here is where I completed my master’s degree at university,specifically the University of Nottingham. I have a master’s degree in Zoology, which I know is a very strange degree to have but the 4 years it took me to complete this course taught me so much about myself.
What is Zoology?
Zoology is very similar to Biology. However, Zoology has more of a focus on animals and doesn’t really discuss medicine or pharmaceuticals. Zoology is not like being a vet, it focuses more on theory, not saving the lives of animals. I learnt about the intricateecosystems which shape our environment, all types of diHerent animals around the world and the necessity to keep a balance with ourselves and the environment to keep our planet going. It was a very open course where the slightest changes, such as a bird migrating to a new forest can impact an entire continent.During my time on this course, I had the pleasure of travelling abroad to France.Specifically in the mountains, uncovering all the diHerent bugs, goats and plants which
made the mountains their home. This is a lifelong memory for me, and it also allowed me to meet some of the most fascinating people I have ever met I studied this degree alongside some of my best friends, we shared data, ideas and even had debates on the current conservation situation our planet suHers from. We debated the best way to protect endangered species, restore habitats and address global challenges like climate change. These sorts of debates taught me that cooperation is incredibly important, not just in Zoology but in all aspects of life. Studying Zoology allows you to undertake a final research project which are incredibly interesting. I had the opportunity to spend 4 months, every day, observing very large red deer with huge antlers. I saw fights, roaring and lots of deer sitting down and eating. This project was hard work but it was diHerent to any other course, it provided me with a unique experience that I will hold with me for the rest of my life. Studying Zoology was extremely fun and interesting, but it did come with numerous challenges. These challenges include very long nights in the library completing
assignments, being homesick and missing family and being overwhelmed by such a large community. These are the challenges of university, but that is also why university is so special, it teaches you to overcome these diHiculties, but also to embrace them and rise above.
Importance to school?
So why am I telling you about my university degree? Firstly, it is quite unique so I thought
you would all be interested to learn what it was. But this degree isn’t just a piece of paper, it’s a reminder of the hard work and dedication I had to put in to be where I am today. My experiences have led me here, stood in front of you all being able to share my journey, and teach you about numerous diHerent subjects including PE, chemistry and English.Working hard doesn’t just apply at university, or school, it applies everywhere. Whether you need to work hard to finish your weekend homework or work hard to make plans with your friends even if you are tired, you must work hard to progress in life. Even now I have finished university, the hard work has not finished, I am always striving to progress and be the best version of myself possible. Success is built on a foundation of consistent eHort and unwavering commitment, and with these foundations you can do and be whatever you want.

学习期间，我曾有幸前往法国山区开展野外考察，探寻以山峦为家的各种昆虫、山羊和植物。这段经历令我终生难忘，还让我结识了许多极具魅力的同行者。我与挚友们共同钻研这门学科，分享数据观点，就地球当前面临的环境保护问题展开激烈辩论。我们探讨保护濒危物种的最佳方案、恢复栖息地的路径以及应对气候变化等全球性挑战——这些辩论让我深刻体会到协作的重要性，这不仅适用于动物学领域，更适用于生活的方方面面。
动物学专业要求学生完成最终研究项目，我的课题格外有趣：连续四个月每日观察长着巨大鹿角的大型马鹿。我目睹了鹿群的争斗、嘶鸣与悠闲进食的场景。这项研究虽然艰苦，却赋予了其他专业无法提供的独特体验，成为我生命中永恒的宝藏。
学习动物学充满乐趣，但也伴随重重挑战：无数个在图书馆通宵完成作业的夜晚、难以排解的思乡之情、面对庞大学术体系的无所适从......这些正是大学教育的特殊之处——它教会我们克服困难，更教会我们拥抱挑战并超越自我。
为什么与各位分享这些？
首先因为这个专业足够特别，相信能引起大家的兴趣。但这份学位不仅是张证书，更是我砥砺前行的见证。正是这些经历让我此刻能站在这里，与大家分享我的旅程，并承担体育、化学和英语等多学科教学任务。
努力奋斗不仅存在于大学或校园，它贯穿人生的每个阶段。无论是熬夜完成周末作业，或是克服疲惫赴朋友之约，都需要通过努力推动人生进展。即便我已离开大学，奋斗也从未停止——我始终努力进步，力求成为更好的自己。成功建立在持续努力和坚定承诺的基础之上，只要夯实这些基础，你们都能成为自己想成为的人。
